Connolly Wellingham are delighted to have assisted the National Trust with interior restoration works at Mompesson House, which completed in June. The Grade I-listed property was completed in 1701 and sits opposite Salisbury Cathedral, presiding over Chorister’s Green. Between 1952 and 1975 Mompesson was home to architect Denis Martineau, who restored and updated the property. The completed phase of work focused on a former bedroom that Denis subdivided and converted into a bathroom and boiler room during that period. Carefully dismantling the remaining layers of this insertion allowed the team to reveal and restore the room's original proportions, historic panelling and missing decorative details - bringing this important space back into the visitor experience.
